Synopsis for "A Force to Be Reckoned With"
Cable leads X-Force in an assault on the Mutant Liberation Front’s Antarctic base. In the ensuing battle, Shatterstar maims Reaper, and Feral breaks Wildside’s jaw, but Cable stops her from killing him. Stryfe sets the facility to self-destruct and has Zero evacuate the MLF to safety. Cable tries to shoot Stryfe but misses just as Zero teleports him away. As the base crumbles around them, Cable teleports X-Force back to their jet, and they fly away. The next day in Manhattan, Gideon and Sunspot spar with training droids and discuss an upcoming meeting to buy out the Jankos Corporation. In Antarctica, a SHIELD mission commanded by G.W. Bridge confirms Cable’s involvement in the destruction of the MLF base. In the Adirondacks, X-Force has adopted Larry Trask’s abandoned Sentinel base as their new headquarters. While discussing the Antarctic mission, Cannonball asks Cable about his late son, Tyler. Cable claims Tyler was his protégé, not his son, and reveals that Tyler was killed in action after joining up with Stryfe. After Cannonball leaves the room, Domino enters, catches Cable using his telekinetic mutant powers, and warns him about his secrecy. At the World Trade Center, Gideon and Sunspot arrive at the buyout meeting only to be taken hostage by Black Tom Cassidy. Arianna Jankos has hired him to prevent her company from being sold. Aboard a helicopter in Canada, G.W. Bridge receives an order from Nick Fury to bring Cable in. To do so, Bridge decides to call in Weapon X.
