Synopsis for "Back to Front"

In his new lair, Magneto decides to recruit X-Force. In Arizona, X-Force returns to Camp Verde after rescuing Rusty and Skids. Feral smells an intruder so Cannonball splits the team into pairs to search the compound, but the intruder knocks them out one pair at a time. Cannonball strikes the intruder from behind only to discover he is Cable. After a brief standoff, he reconciles with the team. Rictor and Sunspot are hostile until Cable reveals it was Stryfe, not him, who killed Rictor’s father and that Gideon killed Sunspot’s father. Cable apologizes for his past mistakes and affirms that X-Force are not just soldiers but family. Hours later, Shatterstar restrains Rictor when throws a tantrum over not being included in a team strategy meeting. Meanwhile, Cable explains how Stryfe used neural implants to control Rusty and Skids’ minds. To treat them, Cable needs to access Graymalkin. Sam still mistrusts him so Cable discloses that his real name is Nathan Dayspring, he grew up fighting the forces of Apocalypse millennia in the future, he returned to the present to groom Cannonball to be mutantkind’s leader, and that he and Stryfe look alike. An alarm sounds as, outside, Exodus has come for Cannonball and Sunspot. When Feral, Rictor, Shatterstar, and Warpath think about defending themselves, he blasts them unconscious. Cable and the others attack him, but he swiftly subdues them as well. Sam and Roberto agree to go with him as long as Boomer, Rictor, Rusty, and Skids come along, too. Before Exodus teleports them away, Sam secretly gives Cable a tracking device. Exodus takes them to the remnants of Graymalkin and reveals the station has been repurposed as Avalon, a sanctuary for mutants. Magneto appears and uses his powers to destroy Rusty and Skids’ implants, restoring their free will. Once the rest of X-Force reaches orbit in the team’s shuttle, Cable forces Avalon to decloak and realizes it is Graymalkin. When Exodus learns they are coming, Sam admits he led them there in case there was trouble. Magneto lauds his forethought but warns that Cable’s path is the wrong one and insists his is the only way for mutants. Exodus goes to confront Cable’s squad, but they defeat him and teleport to Sam and the others. Cable wants to destroy Avalon, but Sam refuses as Rusty and Skids have accepted Magneto’s invitation. Convinced by Sam of their right to self-determination, Cable teleports X-Force back to the shuttle. Next, he retrieves Professor just before Magneto finds him. Cable attacks, but Magneto uses his powers to ravage Cable’s cybernetic parts. Nearly dead, Cable teleports to the shuttle. Magneto concedes Cable stopped him from recruiting X-Force and decides to approach the X-Men next.
