Synopsis for "Shadows on the Rock"

At Camp Verde, X-Force keeps vigil over Cable as his body repairs itself from Magneto’s attack. They get angry at Feral for joking about his cybernetic parts, but then he wakes up. Three days later, Cable walks the base, observes the team, and discusses his leadership choices with Professor. Cannonball and Sunspot prepare to leave for Madripoor to inform their ex-teammate Karma of Illyana Rasputin’s death. Before they go, Sam and Boomer have an awkward conversation about his immortality. After he leaves without kissing her goodbye, Rictor kisses her instead. She pushes Rictor away, but he questions Sam’s feelings for her. Feral and a drunken Siryn watch Shatterstar exercise. Siryn makes a pass at him, but he rebuffs her. When Cable tries to talk to her, she kisses him then falls down. Warpath catches them and explains to Cable that she has a drinking problem. Afraid she will push him away, Warpath refuses to confront her about it, carries her to her quarters, and tucks her into bed. Shatterstar criticizes him for it then finds Rictor watching TV and starts rapidly changing the channels. Once Rictor angrily storms out, Cable sets the TV to automatically change channels every few seconds to accommodate Shatterstar’s preferences. At a maximum security prison in Roanoke, Virginia, a superhuman named Reignfire slays several guards and frees Mutant Liberation Front members Forearm, Tempo, Reaper, and Wildside. Reignfire declares himself their new leader and says their first mission will be to kill Project Wideawake director Henry Gyrich.
