Synopsis for "The Axe Falls"
Reignfire rants at Cable about mutant liberation until Cable stuffs his cape into his mouth and blasts him through a wall with a plasma rifle. While he and Cable keep fighting, Feral leads a petulant Henry Gyrich away. Meanwhile, Wildside threatens to kill Siryn unless Shatterstar stands down. He does but only after cutting off Reaper’s hand. Then, once Wildside grabs his sword, he channels an energy blast through it that seemingly kills Reaper. Shatterstar is about to kill Wildside when Warpath knocks Forearm through a wall and into Wildside. Nearby, Boomer and Sunspot argue with Moonstar until she downs Boomer with a psychic arrow. Locus tries to ambush Sunspot, but he twists her into the path of Moonstar’s next arrow, causing her to teleport them all outside. As they materialize on the island’s shore, Feral almost has Gyrich to X-Force’s jet. He calls her a killer, revealing he knows her real identity and family history. Enraged, she moves to kill him, but Tempo appears and stops her. Reignfire chases Cable toward the beach until Siryn stuns him with her sonic scream. Reignfire recovers, calls Tempo a traitor for helping Gyrich, and blasts her. Then, by playing to Feral’s bloodlust and resentment of X-Force, Reignfire goads her into joining the MLF and again trying to kill Gyrich. Cable stuns her with a plasma blast, but Reignfire grabs her and Gyrich then orders the MLF to retreat. Reignfire flies Gyrich into the air, drops him, and orders Moonstar and Locus to kill him. Just as they fire blasts at Gyrich, Sunspot uses his powers to fly and intercepts Locus’s blast. It ricochets back to her, and Sunspot and the MLF vanish. Gyrich falls into the surf, and Cable realizes Locus could have teleported them anywhere. Despite X-Force saving him, Gyrich says he considers mutants more of a threat than ever. Cable decks him, and the team walks away.
