Synopsis for "Genocidal Tendencies"

Domino evades Nimrod using her luck powers, but it hits Cable with a swarm of attack drones. One of Nimrod’s developers, Dr. Valerie Hawkins-Mailer, says her team did not design it with these capabilities, and Nimrod reveals it is following its own programming. After a running battle, Nimrod downs Domino by blasting a steam pipe behind her. Cable telekinetically redirects the pipe at Nimrod, and Shatterstar attacks it with his swords. Domino then blows one of its legs off with a grenade, and Siryn disorients it with her sonic scream. Once Hawkins-Mailer and her partner access Nimrod’s programming, Cable telepathically takes them into the robot’s mind. Nimrod explains how its original incarnation downloaded a sleeper virus into the U.S. military computer network. Once the military’s Sentinel development program began, the virus recreated Nimrod’s mind, and it rebuilt itself. Cable tells Nimrod it will kill millions if it tries to exterminate mutants in the present. Hawkins-Mailer then has Nimrod calculate the number of human casualties that will result if it executes its plan. Realizing much of humanity would be wiped out in the process, Nimrod shuts itself down. Hawkins-Mailer removes its neural net and gives it to Cable, and X-Force leaves. At the Guthrie farm, the Externals show up demanding to see Cannonball.
