Synopsis for "Under the Magnifying Glass"
In Europe, Deadpool brings the Juggernaut and a wounded Black Tom Cassidy before his boss, Tolliver. Tolliver says he will help Cassidy for a price. Three days later in Manhattan, Karl Lykos returns home from grocery shopping to find the Blob and the Toad holding his girlfriend Tanya captive. The Toad wants to recruit Lykos’s alter-ego Sauron for his new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. At X-Force headquarters, Boom-Boom and Cannonball argue with Cable and Domino about the team’s reputation after Gideon blames them for the World Trade Center attack in a TV interview. Despite their frustration, both Sam and Tabitha decide to stay with the team. Outside, Warpath runs through the forest, pondering the history of his people and reaffirming his mission to avenge them. In the training area, Feral watches Shatterstar finish an exercise and flirts with him. Nearby, Cable catches Siryn watching as well. She plans to stay with X-Force even after he warns her that they face trouble ahead. At the Commission on Superhuman Activities in Washington, D.C., G.W. Bridge briefs the group on his investigation into Cable’s activities. Val Cooper and Henry Gyrich judge that X-Factor is not yet ready to arrest him, and Gyrich reveals that Project: Wideawake has been reactivated. In a Manhattan warehouse, the Toad and the Blob trigger Lykos’s transformation into Sauron by draining Tanya’s life force, killing her. Afterward, Sauron proclaims his return.
